Why You Should Make A Quiz For Your Business (And How I Made Mine)

Do you remember those personality-style quizzes most of us have taken at some point or another? (What type of friend are you? Which movie rom-com hero/heroine are you?) Well, they’ve grown up—and they’re now a brilliant, strategic way to market your business.

I’m talking about lead-generating quizzes. And if you’re a coach, creative, or entrepreneur trying to grow your list or better connect with your audience, quizzes can be a great way to make that happen.

In this post, I’ll walk you through how I created my own quiz using Interact (affiliate link!), why I love the platform, and how you can make your own quiz that fits your style and gets results.

Why quizzes work so well

People love learning about themselves. With a personality-style quiz based on thoughtful questions and with helpful results, people will gladly take a few minutes to engage with you. The trick is to provide a little entertainment while still offering something they’re looking for—helping them understand their strengths and what they can do to become even stronger.

Showing the quiz-taker that you know what you’re talking about and care about helping them with tailored results builds trust in you, and it builds your email list. Personalization is key to success these days, and what better way to ensure you’re in touch with your potential customers’ needs than to get direct feedback from them?

Plus, quizzes are shareable, fun, and interactive!

My quiz: What’s your creative marketing superpower?

I created my quiz to help my target audience, creatives, uncover their strengths when it comes to marketing, plus ways to build on those strengths, rather than fighting against what doesn't come naturally.

Once you finish, you’ll get a personalized result of your marketing superpower, an action plan and strategy with recommended next steps, and a custom playlist of free video lessons to help you with where you currently are in your marketing journey.

Plus, quiz takers are added to my email list (which they can subscribe from at anytime!) which builds my community while giving them tips and insights.

But now that you’ve seen the finished product, let’s rewind and peek behind the curtain…

Creating the quiz with Interact

Here’s how I built my quiz in Interact and how you can too—it’s surprisingly beginner-friendly!

1. Choosing a topic that connects with your audience

I started by thinking about my ideal clients—creatives who want to market themselves without feeling fake or pushy. So I asked: What would help them? The answer: a better understanding of how they naturally show up in their marketing.

From there, the title practically wrote itself: What’s your creative marketing superpower?

Think about your audience’s struggles and strengths. What kind of insight would be valuable for them? That’s your quiz topic.

2. Writing the questions

Next, I drafted questions that reveal patterns in how people create, communicate, and connect, keeping it lighthearted to fit my style. You can do a mix of multiple choice and scenario-style questions, plus questions that allow the individual to select multiple answers. Keep it breezy—people should enjoy taking your quiz, not feel like they’re doing homework.

Pro tip: Keep your quiz to under 10 questions for higher completion rates.

3. Mapping answers to the right results

Interact lets you easily assign which answer choices “point to” which results. So if someone chooses mostly answers that align with, say, the “Growth Mode” type, the platform knows to show them that result.

You don’t need to get overly technical here. Just look for patterns based on your expertise, and assign answers accordingly.

4. Writing strong, helpful results

This is where the quiz really shines. I created multiple personality types (aka creative superpowers), and for each one, I wrote:

  • A short description of the type

  • Common strengths

  • A few watch-outs

  • Personalized marketing tips

I also included a freebie tailored to each type, which helps me build my list and give more value.

Your quiz results should make people feel seen and offer clear next steps. That’s how you build trust and keep them coming back for more.

5. Connecting it to my email system

Once the quiz was ready, I connected it to my email marketing platform (I’ve used Mailerlite for years - here’s my affiliate link!) through Interact. Each result triggers a welcome email tailored to that quiz type, plus they get their freebie automatically.

Why I recommend Interact

There are a lot of quiz platforms out there, but Interact stood out to me because:

  • It’s intuitive – You don’t need to be tech-savvy to get a polished quiz up and running

  • The integrations are seamless (with email marketing and other platforms)

  • It’s optimized for conversions Their quizzes are built to actually grow your list, not just entertain people.

As an affiliate, I do earn a small commission if you sign up through my link, but I only promote tools I actually use and love. Interact is 100% one of them.

Want to try it for yourself?

Creating a quiz is a fun and effective way to grow your list and connect with your audience. Whether you’re a coach, consultant, or creative entrepreneur, quizzes can help you stand out and serve your potential customers better.
